—ইতিহাসবেত্তারা তাকে ‘গ্রেট’ এবং ‘ম্যাগনিফিসেন্ট’ হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করেছেন। তিনি উসমানীয় সাম্রাজ্যের অনেক পুরাতন নিয়মকানুন নতুন করে তৈরি করেন। এর জন্য খ্যাতি পান ‘আল কানুনি’ বা নিয়ম তৈরিকারী হিসেবে।
